Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
The Rules:
1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. You will post the answers to the questions (and the questions themselves) on your LJ.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post. (or a separate post, but not too long after. Be honest here, people!)
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.

1. What is the one thing (besides family) that you miss most about living in the US?
Actually, I don't miss most of my family that much - I think my relationship with my mom has improved, if anything, since I've been over here. And so has my relationship with my dad, having ceased to exist entirely.
But that doesn't answer the question, does it? Though I desperately miss my mountains and being able to go hiking or cycling daily/weekly, I think if I had to put my finger on one thing that I miss the most and find the lack of the most jarring ... it's got to be the culture of customer service in the States. You go to a restaurant in the UK that has free refills on soft drinks, for example, and you practically have to chase your server into the kitchens to get that refill. But every time we go back to the States, I find that if your glass is less than half full, all of a sudden and without you noticing, you've got a full one sat next to you. Menu substitutions? No problem in the states, difficult at best in the UK. I know that -part- of that is because a great deal of the money made by servers in the States is due to tips, so they've GOT to make your experience as pleasant as possible - here in the UK, servers are covered by the same minimum wage laws as everyone else.

2. Besides Ssthisto, which of your characters do you enjoy drawing/doodling the most? (I know Ssthist isn't technically a char, but you know what I mean).
Hmmmm. At the moment, it's got to be my virtual horses even though they're not technically characters. Ummm... I've always liked drawing Leviticus Wand as well - there's just something about levitating semianthro dolphins, even if I haven't drawn him nearly as much as I've drawn Angelwing, for example.

3. You have quite the menagerie at the moment, but if you could add one more pet to your collection, what kind would it be?
Oooo, good question. If it had to be something I have the right equipment to keep -right now- it would be a Crested Gecko (Rhacodactylus ciliatus) since they are almost as cute as my leopard geckos, what with their huge eyes and heads and pointy little eyelashes - and I've actually got a vivarium -set up- right now for one - that is, if I don't get an Orchid Mantis to go in it first. I'd also love to have a pair of girlkittens, one siamese or meezie cross and one tortoiseshell/calico, but I don't wan't to upset our two cats; I don't have a large enough vivarium for an adult corn snake or a ball python right now, even if I could keep a juvie in the Crestie vivarium.

And if we went for my high-end dream critters - the ones we need serious facilities to keep - dedicated rooms of a house we don't own yet, pretty much! It'd have to be a hand-reared baby blue and gold macaw or a breeding trio of Emerald Tree Monitors (Varanus prasinus) - the latter of which I would someday like to be able to breed in captivity, as they're quite uncommon and they're beautiful animals.

4. What is your most important comfort food? (like, if the whole world fell down around you, what food would you need to help you feel better?)
I wish there -was- a food to help me feel better now that my world -is- falling down around me, slowly.
Unfortunately, when I stress to death, I lose most of my desire to eat entirely.

I would have said chocolate or ice cream, but I've tried those already, and they didn't help. If I had to pick something, I'd have to say something like the country breakfast skillet from the Denny's next to the Days Inn in Orlando, eaten at quarter-to-three in the morning, sat across from the people I love, with a bottomless glass of iced tea, a side of American pancakes with real butter and fake maple syrup and a strip of crunchy, crunchy bacon.

5. Do you have any treasured items from your childhood that you still take out and enjoy, like a blanket or an old stuffed animal? If so, why is that particular object special to you?
I still occasionally sleep with Willem, my stuffed toy Raptor I got back when JP1 had just come out - I won him at Circus Circus myself, and he's just the right size to tuck his head up under my neck and chin and be hugged, even if, through over a decade of hard use, his neck has gone a bit floppy... I don't want to restuff him, though, because I'm afraid it'll make him less what he is and more what other people think he should be like.
I was also revisiting my MLPs couple days ago - some of which are my original ones, had when I was a very small child. Somehow, though, thinking about them is more painful than comfortable - because they remind me of everything I lost, instead of everything I've won and hung onto.

1. If you were required to raise a human baby, but you could specify certain traits, which traits would you specify?
2. If you had to give up one of the following, assuming it did not infringe upon other parts of your life in some way, which would you give up: Your computer and internet connection, or your car - and why?
3. What is the correct answer?
4. If you had a horrible but nonfatal disease, would you eat a raw tomato if that was a guaranteed cure?
5. Out of the following sports and hobbies, which one would you do if money was no object: Skydiving, SCUBA diving, 3-Day Eventing, Skiiing or Spelunking?

1) What would you do with a million dollars if it were a tax-free gift?
2) Someone takes a lot of time to make you a birthday cake of a flavour you normally like, but when you taste it you discover that they've somehow substituted salt for sugar. Do you say anything, and if so, what?
3) Do you have a particular childhood game you have very fond memories of playing?
4) Name one colour you have an unreasoning dislike for.
5) If you were able to change your name without any of the legal fees or hassle of notifying companies/etc of the change, would you? If so, to what?

1) You have a choice between two people accompanying you on a trip. The first is relatively clueless, uninformed, but well-meaning; the second is aware of current issues, intelligent, but very abrasive of personality. Who do you take with you?
3) Upon waking up one morning, you discover that, somehow, unbeknownst to yourself, you've been given a tattoo. What would you LEAST like to have permanently drawn on your body?
4) A distant relative in a third-world country leaves you a massive, productive diamond mine for no reason you can determine. What do you do with it?
5) Tell me about your perfect day.
2) Did you notice this one was missing the first time you read the questions?

1. Someone leaves a box with airholes in it on your doorstep, with your name on it - and you somehow know that you -have- to keep whatever's in it. When you open the door, the box moves. What do you -most- hope is in the box?
2. Are there any circumstances under which you would choose (Not 'would be required to') to move -back- to the States?
3. Describe your idealised 'perfect' breakfast - if you could have anything you wanted, anywhere you wanted, what would it be?
4. Someone evil mean and nasty approaches you with a millipede in one hand and a snake in the other. You have to hold one of them before the person will leave you alone. Which one would you hold, with the understanding you do NOT have to keep it?
5. Do you choose your clothes based on how they look or on how they feel?

Interview me, please?

Actually I'm more interested in what questions you might ask than my possible answers, but maybe I'll come up with something that will even surprise me.

1. Are there any circumstances under which you'd move out of the United States?
2. Is there any one thing that, no matter how much money someone offered you, you would not draw?
3. You're surrounded on all sides but one by rattlesnakes. The one side is full of cactus. You've got nothing but whatever fits in your pockets. What do you do?
4. You have the chance to take a photograph of -any- animal in the world - all expenses paid, and so on. What animal would you choose to take a picture of?
5. What is your -very- first memory?

Ooh, good questions! These will require some thought while I tackle the freelance drafting I have tonight. Have you considered replacing Barbara Walters when she retires?

2) Who is your hairdresser?
3) What kind of car would you drive if you could buy -anything- you wanted?
4) Does everything in the universe have a purpose?

1) Chile, Chili or Chilli?
2) An envelope arrives through the post, and you open it without thinking; inside is a great deal of actual folding-money cash. You look at the envelope because you don't know who would send this much money to you, and it turns out it was addressed to the person living next door. What do you do with the envelope and money?
3) What's your opinion of the Voluntary Human Extinction Movement?
4) If you could have anything in the world, one object only, that fits inside a standard-sized cereal box, what would that one item be?
5) Which would you eat first, a cooked dead locust (insect) or a piece of raw dead cow?
